Description

Concrete wall is clothed with ivy to reduce noise from the local 50 km/h distributor road to the residential area.. Side effect is reduction of airpollution and a nice view from the drivers perspective. The wall is approx 450 m in length and 2 m high. Maintenance is carried out twice a year by removing the abundant growth of ivy. No additional manure is distributed, the system functions already 38 years. Of course is atmospheric deposition and the local distributor road adding nitrogen to the system. Water is regurarely distributed b drip irrigation from the drinkwatertap.

Samenvatting (Dutch description)

Bij aanleg begin jaren 90 is in het stadsdeel lindenholt langs de Wijchenseweg tegenover de woonbouelvard een met klimop beklede muur verrezen. Is ooit bedoeld als geluidsreductiemaatregel. draagt echter ook bij aan reductie luchtvervuiling (fijnstof) en aan hittestressbestrijding. De muur is opgebouwd uit een systeem van gewapende aarde: stalen frame met grond erin en heeft een waterdoseersysteem met druppel irrigatie. of bediening manueel danwel met sensoren plaatsvind is onbekend.
