Description
Temporary parklet implemented as part of the “Parklets für Stuttgart” movement on the 18th of July, 2016. A parking space was transformed into a small public retreat area with seating, sand element, herbs and a small exchange box for objects such as books or cushions. The space was intended as a short-term urban pause point within a very dense residential and traffic-oriented street context, offering a place for rest, sensory experience and informal social interaction.
The measure was part of an experimental approach to rethinking street space in favour of people-oriented uses. The installation has since been removed and was not replaced by a new parklet.
Parklet: temporary street-space reallocation with functions including stay/amenity space, social interaction, urban experimentation, and locally improved public space quality within a high-density traffic environment.
