Description
A pocket park is a small-scale public green space integrated into dense urban areas. These micro-interventions enhance urban liveability, reduce heat stress, and utilize underused land.
The Rotary Centennial Park was developed through a partnership between the Rotary Club and the City of Long Beach to commemorate the organization's 100th anniversary. Located diagonally between the Pacific Coast Highway and Junipero Avenue in Long Beach, California, the pocket park introduced greenery and public seating into a traffic-dominated urban environment.
The design follows a solar system theme, incorporating planet-inspired art installations, benches, tree plantings, and a gazebo.
