Description
A pocket park is a small-scale public green space integrated into dense urban areas, helping improve liveability, reduce heat stress, and activate underused urban land.
B. Y. Morrison Park is located at Takoma Junction and combines playground functions with public art elements. The park features interactive and fixed play structures designed for children, supporting both physical activity and creative expression. Outdoor furniture is decorated with colourful, bold artwork by artist Chris Pyrate, creating a visually engaging urban play environment.
Interactive boards equipped with chalk and erasers allow children to draw and express themselves freely, strengthening the park’s social and educational value. The project demonstrates how pocket parks can combine recreation, public art, and community-oriented urban space within a small footprint.
